The Juice Bar

My muses, thoughts, ideas, and whatever

Wow, this weekend featured some incredible basketball games in the NCAA tournament, the Elite Eight. Three of the four games on Saturday and Sunday went into overtime. I didn't know too much about the teams going into the tournament, except for Illinois, given their extensive coverage on local sports stations. However, the teams in the Final Four have all shown quite a bit of heart. That comeback from Illinois against Arizona was incredible, coming back from 15 points down with four minutes to play in regulation.

Next weekend's games should be really interesting. I think Illinois will take the national championship, they certainly have the momentum, and will have a lot of fans making the relatively short drive from Champaign to St. Louis. I just wish I had tickets.

Thoughts on reviewing the Passion of the Christ

Last night I watched the Passion of the Christ again on DVD, since it is
Holy Week. This is the first time I have seen the film since seeing it in a
packed theater the first night of it's release last February 25th. I wanted
to see it fresh, free of the hype and the controversy. I wanted to see the
story, or Christ's last 12 hours before his crucifixion. I found the film
to be a powerful work of art. I still think the level of gore shown was
extreme, but the Bible says Jesus was marred in appearance more than any
man, so the film takes that verse quite literally.

I liked the use of flashbacks give glimpses of events of Jesus' ministry,
and the acting and cinematography were excellent. It's a good film to watch
during Holy Week to remember the price Christ paid for us, and gives
significance to the Resurrection (which I'm glad the film does depict, briefly at the end)

Hello, it's me again. It sure has been a long time since I've posted here. I just wanted to make sure I'm still here. OK, I think I am. I think I'll try to post some more deep thoughts here, at least occasionally.
